Manchester United continue to work on finding a solution on the Benjamin Sesko front, as talks of a potential exchange deal with RB Leipzig surface.

The Premier League giants have already made two major signings this summer in Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, so their main focus at the moment is recruiting a new striker to complete the new attacking trident.

While several names have been linked to the club, INEOS trimmed down their choices to Sesko and Ollie Watkins in recent days.

Afterwards, the Slovenian emerged as the clear favourite, with United’s head of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, keen to reunite with his former pupil, even though Ruben Amorim is said to favour a centre-forward with Premier League experience.

However, landing their top target won’t be easy, as Newcastle are also keen to sign Sesko, especially following Alexander Isak’s transfer request.

Romano delivers the latest updates on Man United, Newcastle & Benjamin Sesko

In his latest appearance on the Here We Go Podcast, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano shed some light on the situation, while revealing an interesting proposal.

The transfer market expert insists that Newcastle are ready to finalise the operation, offering Leipzig and the player the requested figures. All that remains is Sesko’s consent.

The striker is still holding out for Man Utd, as he’s enticed by the opportunity to play for the club despite the lack of European football next season.

For their part, MUFC declared their intention by opening talks with the German club, proving themselves as serious suitors. However, they don’t have the financial means to seal the deal just yet.

Therefore, Leipzig proposed what Romano described as a ‘perfect solution’, adding Rasmus Hojlund as a counterpart in a swap deal, thus lowering the costs of the operation.

Leipzig want Rasmus Hojlund in exchange for Sesko

However, the Danish striker has already expressed his desire to stay at Carrington and fight for his place while putting last season’s poor form behind him.

Stats in 2024/25 Appearances Goals Assists
Benjamin Sesko 45 21 6
Rasmus Hojlund 52 10 4

Moreover, Romano insists that no Man Utd official has told Hojlund that he must leave the club just yet. Therefore, if the former Atalanta striker were to be informed that he’s no longer part of the project at a later stage of the summer transfer window, then he will be ready to consider his options.

In any case, Man Utd must act swiftly and decisively; otherwise, they risk falling behind in the race, as Sesko and his entourage would want to dispel all doubts about the player’s future as soon as possible.

  1. If man united fail to sign this impressive lad for their 3rd time attempt it means man united will be a failure in this new season that is about to kick off

    1. Sesko cannot solve Man Utd striker issue. A player that scored 21 goals in a season in Bundesliga may likely not score more than 10 goals in the premier league. English premier league has more physicality and intensity than where Sesko is coming from, and no striker from that club has been successful after leaving the team.

    2. That is not true…sesko is not God and Hojlung can come back better next season ahead..

  2. Rasmus must live the club to make space for new changes, he was already gave him chance and he did not perform, byb bye

  3. Man United FC must sign both Benjamin Sesko and Ollie Watkins to replace Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee… Both players can be swapped because unfortunately Manchester United is struggling to offload overpaid overestimated flops who has proved that they are unsaleable as they have been paid far more than they deserve even the teams that took them on loan don’t want to sign them off permanently

    1. Joshua is a very good player. Young and talented. Utd should keep him for the next 5 years.

  4. Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliff have no other prime option serve to win the signature of Benjamin Sesko , only will Man Utd save face next season . Hojlund needs offloading by all means if that will bring Sesko to Carrington.

    1. Benjamin Sesko is a must-sign acquisition for Christopher Vivell for the new 2025/26 season.
Manchester United cannot fail in this attempt as both Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres have slipped away because of the dilly-dally nature of our negotiations.
Together with that a new Goalkeeper is also a must-sign absolute necessity and Andre Onana will never 👎🏼 come good. All the strikers ‘efforts and goals will be negated by Andre Onana’s hapless antics.
Otherwise, we might as well write-off ✍️ this season as another lost cause to pile on the 13 seasons of abject failure by the Glazers in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson’s era and now exacerbated by Sir Jim 🐀cliffe’s minority ownership reign with only
      regression amid massive cost-cutting extravagance.

  5. If Benjamin Sesko want to join Manchester United, then the club should go ahead with the option of buying him, But if he is not willing to play for Manchester United then the board should look for a better striker than that one who is not willing to play for the team

  6. Actually I’m not that worried abt the striker dept. I’m more worried abt the keepers that MU have now except Heaton…
Having cunha n mbeumo shows good services to hojlund..
Having the worst goalkeeper in history of MU is worrying…

  7. By offering Garnacho instead all parties may benefit + £10 million as a sweetener UTD WOULD BE BETTER OFF

  8. Hojlund,on a na should leave.Having psg stopper donnarumma on the net is the best option.sesko, mbeumo,cu nha, dial lo,bruno would bring the glory back to old trafford.
