‘Verbal agreement close’: Amorim will be on red-alert after hearing the rapid developments on his ex-talisman’s future

Manchester United are poised to miss out on Viktor Gyokeres once and for all amid reports he’s closing in on a move to Arsenal.

For several weeks now, the Red Devils have been monitoring Arsenal’s pursuit of the Sweden international in hopes a deal fails to materialise.

The Gunners had been prioritising the arrival of highly-rated prospect Benjamin Sekso, but are now seemingly open to signing both players in a bid to bolster Mikel Arteta’s lacklustre forward options.

On Tuesday, L’Equipe revealed (as relayed by Get Football News France) that a ‘verbal agreement’ was now ‘close’ between Gyokeres and Arsenal, with Sporting Director Andrea Berta spearheading the London club’s interest.

Gyokeres reportedly informed United earlier in the window of his desire to join Arteta’s ranks over a reunion with his former boss, Ruben Amorim, at Old Trafford. It comes as a second snub for INEOS to navigate this summer following Liam Delap’s decision to join Chelsea last month.

United turn to PL-proven Ollie Watkins as Gyokeres alternative

As a result, United have been in the market for alternatives, and have recently landed on Aston Villa talisman and 18-capped England international Ollie Watkins as a viable option to bring to M16.

The 29-year-old boasts a hugely impressive 75 goals and 36 assists in 184 Premier League appearances, while he has notched 15 or more goals in his last three seasons, making him a relatively risk-free coup for Amorim to add to his struggling attacking contingent.

INEOS chiefs remain locked in talks with Brentford to try and hash out an agreement for Bryan Mbeumo, who is set to join Matheus Cunha as the club’s only summer signings thus far.

  1. United are spending to long huffing and puffing on the signing of the player Mbeumo that other important targets are being lost to other clubs

  2. Why it takes forever for ManUto sign players we really want, some other clubs are now on 5th to 6th signings…Support the coach n sign him players in time

  3. Procrastination is the thief of time and United’s Hierarchy are full of it. No planning just random reactionary pannick, no style at the helm just an obstinate manager with the wit of turnip. It must be devastating for the players to see what is going on, moral sapping management from top to bottom. Fans, expect more of the same.

  4. It was always thus; I remember a tedious chase to sign Ray Wilkins that took the whole summer. And they fannied around under Moyes before in desperation signing Fellaini. #sigh#.
I wish I could feel more confident about Amorim’s marvellous, magical formation; since he joined, his instructions to the players have met with puzzled shrugs, baffled looks, and piss-poor displays. And now, apparently, because he’ll have had a full pre-season with the muppets, they’ll say ‘oh, I get it now’ and go storming into the new Season, Right, OK then. I’ll stop worrying, shall I ?

  5. Why are Utd showing no interest in Aaron Ramsdale (20 million) Adam Wharton(50 million) Fofana (Lyon(35 million)

  6. Why are we waiting to see if other clubs buy the players we want. I have an idea, we should buy the players we want. Stop hanging around and get on with it. Osimhen is the player we need up front, he would kill in the premier league.
