Fabrizio Romano shares the latest updates on the thorny negotiations between Manchester United and Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo.

Having acquired Matheus Cunha in recent weeks, the Premier League giants have identified the 25-year-old as their second desired attacking reinforcement. But while the Brazilian’s contract with Wolves included a release clause that facilitated the process, the Reds are forced to find an agreement with the stubborn Brentford for the Cameroonian winger.

MUFC had opened up with a £45m plus £10m bid that was understandably rejected, with the Bees setting their initial asking price at £70 million. Many believed the two clubs would find a compromise somewhere down the middle, so INEOS took their time before launching a new and improved offer, believing it would unlock the situation.

Nevertheless, Brentford remain defiant, continuing to seek higher figures.

In the latest video update posted on his official YouTube channel, Romano tries to make sense of the whole situation.

The Italian journalist confirms that the two clubs have yet to find an agreement on Mbeumo. As he explains, Brentford believe the 25-year-old is worth more, based on the figures paid for other players in the past. This could be a reference to the likes of Rasmus Hojlund, Jadon Sancho and Antony.

Stats in 24/25 Appearances Goals  Assists
Bryan Mbeumo 42 20 9
Rasmus Hojlund 52 10 4
Jadon Sancho 42 5 10
Antony 40 10 5

Nevertheless, Romano reveals that Man Utd remain confident and optimistic. The management is determined to reach the finish line, so they continue to negotiate with their Premier League counterparts in the hopes of bridging the gap.

Mbeumo’s keen desire to join Man Utd could be fundamental

The transfer market expert also reiterates that Mbeumo had long given his favour to United, refusing all other destinations. Hence, the player’s clear desire to join the Old Trafford outfit could be an instrumental factor in this soap opera.

Mbeumo is coming off a sensational campaign, scoring 20 goals in the Premier League, including some absolute screamers. Hence, Man Utd aren’t willing to let him slip through their fingers, especially after striking an agreement with his entourage on personal terms.

  1. Brentford are taking us for a ride! Time to pull out of this transfer or this will continue to happen in the future. Mbeumo is not the only option out there!

  2. We situs just walk out of this deal. We need to make a statement otherwise clubs will keep on bullying us. How can they expect to squeeze excessive terms on us based on flops. Hadn’t they shined before crumbling once they wore the Utd badge? We can afford 2025/26 and if we have to get him get him in January.

  3. Honestly, Brentford have bitten more than they can chew. United shouldn’t overpay for Bryan, if they won’t collect the £60million offered, United should explore other targets. We should learn from the past after overpaying for Rasmus, Antony, Zirkzee and other markee signings, it was a bad gamble and these average players did us dirty, they never improved because of the huge price tags on them. They should rather look for players like Mazroui who nobody expected to shine but he’s worth every penny United paid for him. We don’t have much to waste, look for other alternatives and bring them to the Theatre of Dreams. Look out such players in Brazil, Italy, Portugal you will find them. Amorim, you have been given enough time to prove your mettle, if you don’t win us something next season, you’re out, take note.

    1. Like seriously, brentford hold on 65m demand is because of Bryans out put. Bryan is am established EPL player already. Jadon,Antony & Holound were bought at higher figure and couldn’t prove their value in EPL. ManU is just getting it right now to get the right player that if,they want to sell, will be at profit. Not as we re begging clubs to buy jadon etc at loss to ManU

  4. Fergie and Gill wouldn’t let another club hold us to ransom. Tell them to take it or leave it then go get someone else. Plenty of other players out there, some who are not household names and cheaper.

  5. Great to see that Brentford are not being bullied or intimidated by United’s tactics. The price is the price and if United won’t pay it then Brentford will keep him for another year.

  6. What gives Manchester United to right to expect small clubs to accept what they think they want to pay,if you don’t like the price look elsewhere,Brentford have the option to extend his contract by another year.

  7. Wel to me man united have try alot for brenfore but i see brenfore are not willing to sale bryan mbeumo, there are just turning man united around, by rejacting there offer, if they make this last offore the didn’t accept, than forget about than. there are many player around, see victor osimens is availlable.
