After Arsenal pipped their noses in front of Manchester United in the race for Viktor Gyokeres, INEOS chiefs have set their sights on an alternative option.
Indeed, the Red Devils — according to Footmercato — have reportedly ‘resumed talks’ with Victor Osimhen in hopes of finally welcoming their long-standing target to the ranks at Old Trafford.
The Nigerian international will be on the move this summer, given that he left Napoli on loan last summer on bitter terms following a fiery fallout with Antonio Conte.
Osimhen hit the ground running from day dot with Galatasaray

His spell in Turkey was, unsurprisingly, hugely successful. Osimhen returned a whopping 37 goals and eight assists in the 41 appearances he made across all competitions, and rounded off 2024/2025 having added a Super Lig title and Turkish Cup to his honours list.
Alas, the Istanbul outfit are desperate to keep hold of their newfound talisman beyond the expiration of his loan contract, though they are unable to meet not only his wage demands but also Napoli’s price tag — expected to be in the region of €70 million (£59.5m).
Additionally, another loan would not benefit Napoli, who are keen to sanction his exit permanently and recuperate some funds before he enters the final 12 months of his deal on June 30.
If not Osimhen, who?
Whether United would fork out the fees necessary to sign Osimhen in the coming months remains to be seen.
Key decision-makers will be wary that prolific centre-forward options are few and far between, and United have already suffered an early blow after first-choice Liam Delap opted to sign for Chelsea last month.
The side’s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League has proven detrimental in their approach to certain targets; it’s also thought to be the reason Gyokeres is favouring the Gunners over a reunion with Ruben Amorim.
Get osiman eze of crystal palace ederson from atalanta martines from villa and diamonde from sporting and then sell to ballance the books
For some seasons now man utd has become a bark and no bite club, they utd must learn to be direct in approach when it comes to signing a particular player and going all out for him as long he is the right man for the club and stop being linked to so many players and end up panic buying ….
Man Utd should make everything possible to bring Osimhen to the club. He is an experience striker, he has everything Man utd needs as a center forward thanks.
What’s wrong with Johnathan David from Lille. Hes a free agent , right age and must be worth a look.
Man UTD, should also keep Antony and bring osemhen.
Osimhen is a great player but the thought of having 3 first team attackers ( Osimhen,Mbeumo, Amad)leave in February for 6 weeks for the African nations cup isn’t very appealing and could destroy a season.
You are right bro. I had not realized that for sure
Forget about Antony bru , players do have feelings also and after humiliating performances at Old Trafford, he would be naive to come back if he gets the right club to join.
Why are we always late, dilly dallying and not recruiting the right players for the club?Man u used to be a bigger club during sir Ferguson era!who has bewitched us surely? when transfer period commences,we normally have a list that shows who is who in soccer but when it comes to recruiting -we pick onana,Antony, hojuland etc instead of mbeumo, hall and, etc!!who bewitched us
We need mbuemo and osimhen this coming Monday
If Man United want osimen they should act fast not by mouth, osimen is a good player
Man Utd….desperate (not “need”) a goal scorer. So what is there for them to keep on procrastinating in making their final decision.? They are ever so so slow….in reaching an agreement either the player or the club. Then, they hot the panic button when things take a U-turn. It is always their fault. Always! can we please see some real action, real decisive action and get on signing the player that we want. You lot at Man Utd….is about time to know what must be done….and do it!!! what are you waiting for? another disastrous season like we just had….and from 15th place we will be down to 35th place as the elevator keeps going down and down. Then somebody wakes up….oh yeah…let’s sack the manager.
I thought barreda will start acting quickly, that’s why he was hired by Manchester, I’m surprised or confused on how he’s handling transfer market, there’s a feeling we’ve not moved yet from where he found unto
What’s this with Man Utd managers fixation with former players who end up dissing them anyway; Ten Hag was fixated by Frankie Dejong and now Ruben Amorim with Gykores . Get Osimhem and move on to your next target . This dilly dallying has since been a precursor to disastrous acquisitions usually to atone for the lost targets.
