Despite reports suggesting that almost every Manchester United player had been put up for sale this summer, the club have opted against offloading Joshua Zirkzee.
According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Inter Milan had reached out to the Red Devils to gauge the possibility of signing both Zirkzee and his forward counterpart Rasmus Hojlund. United were ultimately uninterested in taking the proposal any further, but did make it clear that the Dane could be sold for the right price.
Talks are said to be ongoing between United and Inter to try and hash out a deal that would see Hojlund return to Serie A, where he spent one season with Atalanta before moving to England.
Rasmus Hojlund earns early suitors in transfer window

It’s not the first time he’s been linked with the European giants, either. Fabrizio Romano had already confirmed back in May that the 22-year-old had made his way onto Inter’s shortlist. Two months prior, Juventus and newly-crowned league champions Napoli also approached the Reds to gain some clarity on his situation, though the pair are yet to formalise their interest by starting talks with the player directly.
After Hojlund endured yet another substandard display for his national team on Saturday, he was pressed on his Old Trafford future and whether he would indeed be starting 2025/2026 with the club. He responded: “I have a contract until 2030, so I expect to play for Manchester United [until then].”
Hojlund able to bide his time as Reds continue striker search
However, CDS’ report suggests the No.9 has already green-lit a potential move to Inter, essentially leaving the ball in INEOS’ court as to whether they negotiate his sale or not.
United will be keen to make their money’s worth after agreeing a £72 million package to sign Hojlund in 2023, yet Inter are currently leaning towards a loan plus an obligation/option to buy.
Hojlund should be sold – reasons have already been explained but are fairly obvious – it’s best for everyone. If it were up to me, I’d accept a loan with obligation to buy.
I agree we should keep Zirkzee for now. He has a way to go in development and I yet hold hopes for impressive performances at Man Utd. There have been passages of play where his style has reminded me of Paul Pogba. That suggests he may be miscast as an attacker. As a striker, at best, he’s really a ‘false-9’. He may fit better as a 10 but, perhaps, as he develops, he’ll move deeper into central midfield, like Pogba, or play midfield in a 3-5-2? This coming season, I think I’d play him as a ‘false-9’ in certain games whilst keeping an open mind about his future.
That thing off a loan move is nonsense then we must still be paying some of his salary just sell him and let him go
You assume that someone will buy him outright in this wondow – that may not happen. If not, a loan with obligation to buy is acceptable, IMHO.
Assuming United buy a centre forward, and have Obi as a back up, then I guess the plan is for Cunha and Mbeumo as number 10’s, with Bruno dropping into centre midfield.
That being the case, Zirkzee and Mount would be warming the bench. Personally speaking United need to sell Mount also
Both of them should just go… No need to talk abt potentials… Just a waste of time… Look at what both of them have achieved so far…. Not forgetting mount, onana, Shaw, Anthony n rashford…. All these players r just greedy n acting like mercenaries…. They r not worth the amount of money they get everyweek….
