Manchester United have reportedly named their price for Kobbie Mainoo after failing to find a breakthrough in their contract talks.
The 20-year-old is one of the club’s lowest earners, as his current salary is circa £20,000 per week, paling in comparison with the figures that most of his teammates collect.
But while INEOS are adamant about rectifying the situation, they aren’t willing to meet the player’s demands, as the management is determined to lower the bill and implement a new wage structure.
Man Utd can’t find agreement with Mainoo’s entourage

Therefore, the negotiations between the two parties have stalled as of late, leaving the midfielder’s future in great jeopardy.
Moreover, Mainoo also hasn’t covered himself in glory last season. The Englishman enjoyed a sensational breakthrough season under Erik ten Hag in 2023/24, but when Ruben Amorim took the reins, he struggled to carve out a place in the new manager’s 3-4-2-1 system, as his ideal role in this formation remains unclear.
Man United want £70m to sell Kobbie Mainoo
According to Manchester Evening News, INEOS realise that keeping an unhappy Mainoo could be a major risk, and with his contract expiring in June 2027, this summer might represent the best timing to sell him before his valuation takes a hit.
Kobbie Mainoo’s EPL stats | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
2023/24 | 24 | 3 | 1 |
2024/25 | 25 | 0 | 0 |
The source believes the England international would be available for £70 million. Nevertheless, United would struggle to find a buyer who has the financial strength as well as the desire to splash such a hefty figure on a player who could be deemed too green for the big stage.
The report believes some Premier League clubs can afford to sign Mainoo, and it should be noted that Chelsea were said to be on his trail in the past.
Nevertheless, Mainoo’s departure would be another agonising blow for Man United fans who be loathe so witness the departure of another academy product and Old Trafford favourite.
INEOS when buying its share of MU stated i have not bought in for the money i want to take MU back to the top yet MU travel to Asia getting a haircut from a bunch of players who trained together twice Amorim makes his normal excuses Berrada backs him up cos there is 7 Million reasons for the trip this garbage has to cease now Amorim should be cut loose NOW
It is worrying that players who did well under Ten Hag – Mainoo and Garnacho in particular – are now departing the club as ‘they don’t fit Amorim’s system’.
And if Amorim fails next season we’ve lost 2 highly talented players who may well have thrived under the new boss; whoever that might be. Admittedly, you can’t keep players who are unhappy, but I can’t get away from a feeling we’re putting all our eggs in the one Amorim basket. Losing Academy players and spending hundreds of millions on players WE HOPE will be better. If it all goes pear-shaped we’re left with a squad conditioned to Amorim’s way of playing; let’s hope that, if it comes to it, they’re better at adapting to new ideas than the current bunch.
You mean did well initially then dropped off .. have you forgotten they eventually got him sacked when we were in 15th place with the team a complete mess – no confidence no shape nothing … Amorin hasn’t even had a pre season yet to group or a window … mainoo is refusing to accept a new contract so this would enforce a sale .. they’ve offered him 200k reportedly still not enough? Didn’t he said when he first came through that he wasn’t playing for the money .. fast forward half a season and it’s all greed and lack of effort on the pitch
