Manchester United are ready to turn their attention to another striker after deciding to abandon the track that leads to Viktor Gyokeres.
The Swedish bomber is coming off a surreal campaign at Sporting CP, and he’s been tipped to reunite with his old mentor, Ruben Amorim, at Old Trafford.
But on Monday morning, Sky Sport DE journalist Florian Plettenberg revealed that the Red Devils have all but dropped out of the race to sign the 26-year-old.
Moreover, the same source claimed that Gyokeres isn’t keen to join the fallen Premier League giants, which shouldn’t come as a shock given their failure to reach Europe next season. After all, the free-scoring striker has several suitors capable of offering him the opportunity to play in the Champions League, including Arsenal.
United won’t sign Viktor Gyokeres

According to Sport Mediaset, United’s Europa League final defeat will see them miss out on circa £100 million between UCL prize money and other revenue streams. Hence, they’ll have to resort to a more affordable target to bolster their attack, namely Moise Kean.
The 25-year-old had two spells at Juventus, in addition to a forgettable experience at Everton and a loan stint at Paris Saint-Germain, but he’s finally putting it all together at Fiorentina.
How Man Utd plan to lure Moise Kean to Old Trafford
The Italian striker is coming off a brilliant first campaign in Tuscany, and his last-gasp winner on the final day of the Serie A campaign gained the Viola access to the Conference League.
Therefore, the source believes that Man Utd are willing to trigger the striker’s £43.5 million release clause.
Stats is 24/25 | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Viktor Gyokeres | 52 | 54 | 13 |
Liam Delap | 40 | 12 | 2 |
Moise Kean | 44 | 25 | 3 |
This would arguably be a savvy piece of business on the club’s part, as Kean is an absolute physical specimen blessed with incredible strength and pace.
He also represents a more experienced and mature profile compared to Liam Delap who only has one season in the top flight under his belt.
Although he struggled at Goodison Park early in his career, he was still a mere youngster at the time, so he deserves a second chance to prove his worth in the Premier League now that he has taken his game up to another level.
It does seem unlikely that Gyokeres will join Man Utd but as for Kean, Italian media are notoriously unreliable. His contract runs to 2029 and his last sale fee (last year to Fiorentina) was €13.00m according to Transfermarkt. Sounds like an agent-driven push and an over-priced release clause … and a bit like the tourist shops changing over their price stickers when the cruise ship arrives.
And we’ve been down this road before – Serie A is not the Prem.
you couldn’t have put it any better

Glazers and ineos should go. It’s not the manager, it’s not the players, it’s the owner. That is the main problems.
I couldn’t agree more with the above comments, the glazers only wanted the money and Radcliffe only wants the big name look at me I’m the one that got the big stadium there only interested in the money nothing else, they are both useless
Glazers out now take Radcliffe with them they have killed the club. Its about time supporters boycott matches before united sink any lower.
