Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund is grateful to his teammate Christian Eriksen who helped him become familiar with his new surroundings after making the move to Carrington.
It has been a complicated campaign for the young striker, to say the least. The former Atalanta star has only managed to find the back of the net in the Premier League on three occasions. He only endured a torrid 21-match goal drought across all competitions, before breaking his duck against Leicester City just before the international break.
But while MUFC supporters were hoping this would be the start of a rosier chapter, the 22-year-old has gone astray once again, failing to score ever since.
Nevertheless, Hojlund still has the chance to make amends by delivering the goods when it matters the most. The Red Devils are preparing to host Lyon in what should be a thrilling contest in the Europa League quarter-finals, especially following their 2-2 draw in the first leg in France. Rasmus Hojlund explains scoring struggles

Ahead of the big European clash, Hojlund opened up on his struggles in front of goal, admitting he needs to improve some aspects of his game.
“I want to score 100 goals tomorrow if I can, but it’s about progression and keep focusing about what you can do, and how you can get to that level,” said the Man Utd striker in his interview with Sky Sports.
“That’s what we’re trying to do every day, being interested about learning new things, wanting to become better. I think we’re trying to build an environment now where we can grow and where we can develop ourselves.
“I think it’s a very young group as well. There’s a lot of young people and young players coming through now, which is sort of we’re helping each other. The competition getting sharper, and it helps each other to make us better.”
Hojlund also dwelt on his special bond with his compatriot Eriksen who helped him settle at United after making the transfer from Atalanta in the summer of 2023.
“Christian has been great. He’s done it in a calm way. He’s not been like a father with me and said what to do and sort of things, he’s just sort of helped me settle.
“He helped me with where to live and these sorts of things. But he’s also been great at just approaching me at the right times, and also giving me the input that he could see I needed sometimes.”
Eriksen admitted he’s set to leave the club at the end of the season as the management hasn’t offered him a new contract, while Hojlund’s future remains up in the air. Although he’s enduring an underwhelming campaign, he reportedly still has suitors in Italian football, including Napoli and Juventus.
