Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim revealed the latest from the treatment table ahead of Sunday’s big Derby against Manchester City.
The Red Devils currently lie 13th in the Premier League table, and their hopes of reaching the European spots have long evaporated. Their latest defeat to Nottingham Forest only came to confirm what had already been deduced.
Nonetheless, their supporters will still expect them to put up a fight against Pep Guardiola’s men, if even for mere pride.
United have already stunned the Cityzens once this season, pulling off a sensational late comeback courtesy of Amad Diallo.
The young Ivorian is making important strides on this recovery path, but he’s not expected to return to the pitch before May.
On the contrary, another young Man Utd star could make a timely comeback, as Kobbie Mainoo might be given the all clear after almost two months on the sidelines.
“I think Kobbie is returning to training, so we will assess [him] ahead of the game. He cannot play a full game,” said Amorim in his pre-match press conference (via The Mirror).
The 19-year-old is still trying to find his best role under the Portuguese manager, but regardless of his position, his presence would be a timely boost for the squad’s depth.
Ruben Amorim Issues Updates on Mainoo, Mount & De Ligt

Moreover, Mason Mount, who made his return to action against Forest through a 12-minute cameo, is now fit enough to play a starting role.
“Yes, [Mount] is fit enough to start, but we must manage him,” explained Amorim. “Mason has trained a lot of times, getting the load in his body. Sometimes the mind is more important than the body. He is fit to play and we will see on Sunday.
But on the other hand, the Man Utd boss suggested Matthijs de Ligt could be ruled out with an injury. The Dutchman was seen limping after the last contest. “I think Matthijs [De Ligt] has an issue,” admitted Amorim.
Therefore, it remains to be seen how United would cope without their ‘impressive defender at the back. Leny Yoro and Harry Maguire have recently returned to action, but Ayden Heaven remains out, while Lisandro Martinez is a long-term absentee.
Before Amorim took over Mainoo knew his position, everyone at United knew his position, players knew his position. No one knows his position now, all thanks to Amorim’s negligence and stubborn management. United have many players who can play better in a better system is it only one person who is out of sync and out of step with the rest, guess who??
You seem to be one of those fans who just love to complain about any and every bloody thing
You are so right. Amorim will not rest till he totally destroyd Man U and then hye will leave saying his system is not working so he is gone. Worst coach ever
I believe a good coach has to be flexible with his system to match the type of players at his disposal as well as to suit the kind of opponent he plays. Unfortunately I don’t see much of that in the current Red Devils coach.
In truth, mainoo and garnacho aren’t supposed to be starters in a good manutd team, with some others. So we should stop this hype about mainoo. He’s decent but not the standard united need
You guys are talking nonsense those players are useless this is the best coach Manu will ever have as a team you like complaining about all my Manu coaches why
Go take a nap mehn
They will sell quality players just like those who are now flourishing with other teams, and guess who is the biggest problem, the stubborn coach!
Amorin is not stubborn, he’s just a strategy biy his own players that he knows very who can fit into his system of play
Eth tried all the formation system in when he used to be Manchester United coach, but most of the players didn’t adapt to whatever system he plays week in week out, Amorin has taken an observation of that sane attitude, and that lives him no choice but to come up with some strategy to offload the majority of the money bags who have become a lazy domb assholes.
It’s very clear that Man utd official boards are not really eager to bring in new faces of footballers into the team but expecting Amorin to manage and groom the remaining lazy assholes together who are not even consistent in their style of play no consistency in good performances on the pitch. Every players are just focused on wanting to earn the large sum of money and also focused on increment on renewal of new contract that would go along with a large sum of money and ignoring whatever that makes man utd a pride of England since the past decades
No hunger to play for the barg but for money
We need players who are willing to give there all like Bruno.. it’s not always about quality, but also the mentality of players.i support the coach because most of the players we have at man u are only concerned with money than delivering on the pitch and this has been the same case with the previous managers.
Man united is our problem as far as I’m concerned. If the three man defence doesn’t work, try another formation. You are not giving us joy. we the fans. Amorim change your pattern please.
United played one of its best games away at Forest, and we only lost because of a lack of firepower up front, which applkes to so many kfnour games. This is not Amkrim’s fault, and if we get Osimhen or Gyokeres in the summer the problem will be solved.
That’s really utd player’s are out by head coach Amorim
I think the Management knows him very well before they signed him so let’s give him more time
Wait and see, he’ll prove the doubters wrong…
It’s as if people who have never played football, who even have no any idea about coaching tactics are th most notorious commenters and critics of every steps that coaches take. So sad…
But those players flourishing, what did they do at united
