Bayern Munich are being linked with a move for Manchester United wingback Diogo Dalot who has been a key figure under Ruben Amorim.

The two Portuguese reportedly share a solid bond, while the 26-year-old has been one of the manager’s staunchest defenders both on the pitch and in the media.

The former AC Milan man was a regular starter for Erik ten Hag in the final stretch of his tenure, and his status only increased after being united with his compatriot, and has been almost omnipresent on the pitch, making 45 appearances in all competitions this season which yielded two goals and four assists.

The Portugal international has been playing either on the right or left flank in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system largely depending on the identity of the other wingback (Noussair Mazraoui or Patrick Dorgu).

Between his impressive displays and noticeable versatility, Dalot may have caught the attention of several suitors. But according to German football journalist Christian Falk, Bayern Munich won’t be willing to spend €40 million to sign the Porto youth product, while noting how his current teammate Mazraoui was deemed too weak for the Bavarian giants.

“The player is considered too expensive at €40m. Noussair Mazraoui is playing in his position at the moment and he wasn’t considered good enough for Bayern Munich,” explained the transfer market insider in his latest column for The Daily Briefing.

“Dalot can play on the opposite flank, but Bayern have Alphonso Davies, so there’s no chance for him there.”

In any case, Amorim would be delighted to keep his close ally at Carrington for as long as possible, so Dalot was never considered a candidate to leave the club, unless INEOS were to receive an unmissable opportunity to cash in on his services. His current deal runs until June 2028 and has an option for another year.

  1. Worst first choice fullback in Uniteds history. I find it mind-boggling that his performances arppear to be deemed impressive by your correspondent. What games are you referring to? He has never performed above average in any game I’ve ever seen him play and he more than anyone, is the prototype for how United standards have dropped.

  2. I live in hope that Dalot will do what he did under Ten Hag, that being to gradually grow into the role defined by his coach and end up doing it reasonably well. It took a whole season under Ten Hag, so I’m hesitant to write him off at this stage. In the end, we may need a better RWB to win the league but that’s years away. Club youth may satisfy the need anyway but, in the meantime, I wouldn’t rush to sell Dalot, especially at a discount price.

    1. Dalot under Ten Hag was playing very well and as you all know this is a new error and he must adopt to the position he is placed to play because Amorim right now he is trying to place each player at a place where they will be comfortable and perform there roles well…..But lately he has started to improve.
