As is usually the case for Manchester United in a winter transfer window, they will have to offload players in order to raise funds for potential signings.
Alas, there are three prime candidates that INEOS can send on their way this month to not only boost their budget but also free up some much-needed space on the wage list.
Victor Lindelof:
Lindelof is one of six United players out of contract in five months’ time, meaning now is the last chance the club have of recuperating any money from his exit.
Signed for £31 million back in 2017, the Swede has been a trusted servant under each manager he’s played for – but did fall out of favour under Erik ten Hag. He has featured sporadically over the last year, both due to frequent injury setbacks and the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, and, previously, Raphael Varane, ranking higher in the pecking order.
He earns a reported £120,000 per week and has already garnered interest from a host of clubs, including Leicester City, with new boss Ruud van Nistelrooy keen to use his Red Devils ties to enlist the help of some of their players for the second half of the term.
“I’m looking at my network,” he admitted in a recent press conference. “Of course, having played in a couple of countries and more clubs, I’m using my network in opportunities to strengthen the squad, and we are looking at all possibilities to help this team reach their targets. So yes, we are looking everywhere.”
If you’re a betting man – which you can put into action while using online betting sites – you’d imagine the likelihood of the Foxes welcoming a couple of Reds in the coming weeks is high.
Casemiro:

With his peak years now well behind him, Casemiro has become nothing more of a squad player at Old Trafford. The issue with that, however, is that he ranks as the club’s highest earner on an eye-watering £350,000 per week.
He is contracted to United until 2026, though his extortionate wages will prove far too costly for any European club at this stage of his career – which is why a move to Saudi Arabia has been mooted in the last few weeks.
Christian Eriksen:
Like Lindelof, Eriksen is seeing out his final season in M16 before being released in the summer. He has struggled considerably to meet the demands, pace and physicality of Amorim’s newly implemented system – all but rendering him a last-resort option for the head coach.
A return to where it all began, Ajax, is believed to be an option for the 32-year-old this year.
