Should Man United promote free-scoring youngster amidst attacking crisis?

Manchester United have been lacklustre in front of goal in recent weeks, especially with their top striker this season Marcus Rashford omitted from the squad.

The England international has failed to win the favour of his manager Ruben Amorim who has left him out of the club’s last four contests against Man City, Spurs (in the Carabao Cup), Bournemouth and Wolves. Aside from the Derby showdown which witnessed a dramatic come-from-behind victory, the Red Devils lost all of these fixtures.

Moreover, Joshua Zirkzee has been struggling for form since making his summer switch from Bologna. He was already failing to deliver the goods under his compatriot Erik ten Hag, and his situation hardly improved with Amorim’s arrival. The Dutchman has only found the back of the net on three occasions this term.

For his part, Rasmus Hojlund has emerged as the Portuguese’s first choice upfront, but some of his recent outings and demeanour have left the fans frustrated.

Therefore, the club has been urged to enhance their striking department in January, but finding the right fit in the middle of the season remains challenging.

This is why an internal solution could be worth a try. But the question is whether Amorim and his staff are willing to bet on an 18-year-old bomber.

Should Man United bet on Gabriele Biancheri?

Gabriele Biancheri can't stop scoring for Man United youth squads

Since the start of the season, Gabriele Biancheri has been firing on all cylinders for the club’s U21 and U18 squads. As Statman Dave notes, he has been directly involved in 17 goals (scoring 16 and assisting one) in 17 outings across all competitions.

The teenager is a Welsh Italian who started his career at Cardiff City before making the move to Carrington in February 2023. He has also been prolific on the international stage, scoring eight goals in as many appearances for Wales U19.

  1. Start bringing through the youth and stop buying expensive second rate players. We have a youth academy for a reason so let’s start using the talent we have.

    1. I have been wondering why and when these new appointed coaches are going to be as brave as SAF. SAF wasn’t afraid to throw in the likes of Beckham, Butts, Scholes and The Neville brothers into the deep end.
It is time to stop wasting big money on players whom are not up to par yet. Bring in the kids and throw them into the deep end.

  2. All united coaches bar LVG are cowards. They claim to promote youth but are scared of playing the academy boys even when it is glaring the underperforming and overpaid superstars are not any better

  3. Amorim need to be brave and never scared to fielded the academy players like Gabriele Biacheri, Scanlon, Chidi-Obi, Harry Amas and many more

  4. The academy is full of promising stars. Why not follow what Sir Alex Ferguson did for the Class of ’92.
Why still stuck to current bunch of useless players especially that Brazilian; Antony

  5. Let’s this coaches go to our academy and bring in kids who can deliver and stop wasting money on less quality players. You can definitely win with kids, SAF did win with kids and made them superstars. Chido obi martin is a high scoring kid, Biancheri can do too. Let Amorim wake up now and take us back to the top.

  6. Obi-Martin and Bancheri play well together so why not give them a chance and see what they can do in the first team. Could be another Yorke – Cole partnership.

  7. This utd players are really upseting the funs. Amorim and Ineos needs to act fast before they will turn theathre of into theathre of misery.
