Joshua Zirkzee has had a difficult time at Manchester United since joining the club at the start of the season.
The 23-year-old Dutch international striker has scored just once in 16 appearances across all competitions and he has been linked with an exit from the club. The striker could look to move on in January when the transfer window reopens and clubs in Italy could be prepared to provide him with an exit route.
According to Caught Offside, newly appointed Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim could be the way for his exit. It remains to be seen where the player ends up.
Zirkzee was highly rated during his time at Bologna, but he has not been able to replicate that form at Manchester United. A return to Italy could be ideal for him. It would help him re-capture his form and confidence. It is evident that he is struggling to adapt to the Premier League so far and a return to his comfort zone could be ideal.
It will be interesting to see if Manchester United decide to sell him permanently in January. Alternatively, they could send him out on loan so that he can get his confidence back with regular football in Italy and return as a better player in the summer.
Aston Villa keen on Zirkzee
Meanwhile, Aston Villa are keen on signing the 23-year-old striker as well. They have been overly dependent on Ollie Watkins for goals. They could certainly use more depth in the attack, and the arrival of Zirkzee could complete the attacking unit. A fresh start could be ideal for the Dutch attacker, and Unai Emery might be able to bring out the best in him. It remains to be seen whether he is keen on staying in England and joining the West Midlands club.
