Manchester United are keeping a close eye on the situations of two world-class Bayern Munich stars poised to become free agents in June 2025.

The first is Alphonso Davies, who’s attracting interest from a host of top clubs across Europe as he is yet to indicate where his future lies beyond his current deal. Staying at the Allianz is an option, although interest from the Red Devils, Real Madrid and Barcelona may prove difficult to rebuff if he’s considering a new venture after six years with the German giants.

Elsewhere, former Manchester City talisman Leroy Sane is being linked with a return to England, with both United and Arsenal plotting their respective pursuits should he opt against a new deal at Bayern.

He’ll be free to open talks with foreign clubs in January ahead of a potential summer release, although it remains to be seen whether he’d burn his bridges with the Blues by making a move to the red side of Manchester.

Indeed, Sane, whom compatriot Jamal Musiala hailed as ‘one of the best wingers in the world’, spent four years playing under Pep Guardiola from 2016 to 2020, scoring 39 goals and tallying 43 assists in his 143 appearances across all competitions. He played an integral role in the side’s successes during his tenure, which saw him leave with two Premier League winners’ medals, as well as three League Cups and an FA Cup to his name.

INEOS chiefs would’ve been put on red-alert after his latest admission when he spoke of his longstanding interest in England’s top flight – even four years on from his exit.

“I will definitely not sign for another club on January 1 or 2. I don’t need a quick decision. I have a sympathy for the Premier League. I still watch certain games on TV,” he told Bild.

“The attraction for me lies in the club where I can show my best performance, develop and win titles. I have that at Bayern. This is where I have my greatest challenge and goals.”

Bundesliga expert Christian Falk dealt United a significant blow in their hopes of landing the 28-year-old as a free agent next year, though. He revealed that, in the event that Sane does choose to part ways with Bayern, he and his family would prefer to relocate to London rather than Manchester this time around.
