Paul Scholes feels INEOS were out of order to drop Sir Alex Ferguson of his duties as Manchester United ambassador.
Ferguson will leave his role as Manchester United ambassador at the end of the season.
He has been paid a multi-million sum by United since his retirement as manager in 2013, and the ambassadorial role decision is believed to have been mutual.
Ferguson, 82, acted as a global ambassador and club director. He will remain a regular attendee at games so, in reality, this changes nothing.
The role entailed marketing campaigns rather than the day-to-day running of the Premier League club.
Paul Scholes isn’t the only former United player to speak out against the decision. United legend Eric Cantona called the decision “scandalous” adding on Instagram: “Sir Alex Ferguson should be able to do anything he wants at the club until the day he dies. Such a lack of respect.”
However, Scholes is singing from the same sheet by talking out against INEOS on TNT Sports ahead of United’s Europa League clash against Turkish opponents Fenerbahce.
“I felt it was a little distasteful,” Scholes said on TNT Sports.
A win would boost Paul Scholes’ mood tonight
United are looking for their first win in the 2024/25 Europa League campaign.
After drawing with FC Twente and FC Porto, United have just two points to show for in Europe this season.
A win would see United claim victory in consecutive games and that would help boost the mood around the club ahead of Sunday’s trip to West Ham.
