Manchester United are hoping to cash in on Casemiro.

According to former chief scout Mick Brown, United are looking to sell Casemiro in January.

There was a similar plan in the summer but a deal failed to materialise because there wasn’t enough interest in the Brazilian midfielder due to his salary.

Casemiro struggled to find form last season and it no longer looks like he can take control of games in the middle of the pitch, as he did during his first campaign at Old Trafford after joining from Real Madrid.

Sadly, Casemiro’s performances have dipped since his debut season.

It is understood that Casemiro is open to a move away from the club after being dropped from the starting XI this season. Furthermore, United signed Manuel Ugarte as a replacement, but the Uruguayan has struggled since his summer move from Paris Saint-Germain.

Former scout Brown told Football Insider: “I’m told they’ll look to cash in on him [Casemiro] as soon as they can, on the 1st January if possible.

“He’s been benched because he hasn’t been performing and can’t do it any more.

“I’m sure they would love to offload him if they could to get him out of the squad and off the wage bill, which would allow them to spend some money.”

Who wants Casemiro?

United expected interest from Saudi Arabia the summer, but that never happened, so it will be interesting to see if Casemiro receives any offers in the coming months.

His current deal expires in June 2026 and his contract includes the option of a further year.

The big question in January will be who wants Casemiro because nobody came knocking for his signature in the summer.

  1. Although Casemiro sits at the top of my “to sell” list, he still has quality. I suspect that, in a different system, we’d see more of that quality on the pitch. Even now, you can see the difference in how settled he can be on the ball (given half a chance, i.e. when not being instructed to ‘transition quickly’ by punting the ball forward) compared to younger, more energetic players.

  2. The problem with Manchester united is Eric ten hag making,All the problems are from the left back where Dalot is allowed to drift in the middle, and leave unmarked opponent free,so it forces Martinez to try and thereby destabilizing the entire defence.
Just look at how Liverpool, spurs and Porto exploited that space, all goals came from the left side. What ten hag needs is tell Dalot to just defend,be with his person all the time. And you’ll find that once Dalot has moved in the number 8, that’s ericksen moves further up the field to join the press,so once the opponent gets the ball , no one is there to assist man united no 6,
Again when you see how teams are defending,is very different with man u,look at arsenal,Saka will track back and assist kalafiori,to be two people against one,but at united,Rashford will track back, but he will defend the opponent a lot because Dalot is not their already,so it’s very hard to blame Rashford yet the coaches tactics are hampering players performance. So to these man u player’s are good players, but Eric ten hag tactics are hampering them. The problems are with coaching not players.
