Gary Neville denies being an ‘inside man’ at Manchester United after meeting

Gary Neville denies he is an ‘inside man’ at Old Trafford after he attended a meeting to discuss the stadium’s regeneration.

The former club captain was asked for his thoughts on United’s poor start to the season by ex-Arsenal striker Ian Wright on the Stick To Football podcast.

United have made their worst-ever start to a Premier League season as they sit 14th in the Premier League.

Neville and Wright were joined by Roy Keane, Wayne Rooney and Jill Scott on the latest episode of the podcast.

After being spotted at Old Trafford for meetings earlier this week, Neville was asked by Wright for insight on United as ‘an inside man’ before being corrected.

“I’m not on the inside of it, no I’m not,” Neville said.

“I went on Monday to meet them about the regeneration side.”

Neville denied that football matters were discussed at the meeting: “Not at all.”

Gary Neville on the inside, Roy Keane as manager?

Wright continues to conversation by asking Keane if he would accept an offer from United to become manager, which is not something we can see ever happening.

“Who, me? They’re not going to be asking me. They just wouldn’t. It’s not going to happen.

“The only time you can answer a question about would you walk in there? Would you walk in at Celtic? Would you walk in at a different company? It’s when you’re asked.”

Wright followed up: “Yeah, but where are they going to get it from, Roy?

“Who’s going to turn (things) around if it’s not someone like yourself?

“All those things that need to be instilled, need to be instilled by people who were there.

“Are we supposed to think that United are going to get a new manager in and all of a sudden that’s all going to click into place?’
