Manchester United suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur this evening.
It was another one of those bad days at Old Trafford that we’ve had too many of in the post -Sir Alex Ferguson era.
Here are three things we learned from the game:
Free-flowing Tottenham crush United
Tottenham dominated from the early stages of the match after taking the lead three minutes in. There were glaring signs from the opening goal that showed United were not at the races. The performance cannot be defended because it left us embarrassed at home and Erik ten Hag needs a sudden response. Otherwise, he’s in trouble because it was far too easy for Spurs today as we conceded three goals for the eighth time in the last 28 games.
United started the day level with Spurs, but in no time they were being outplayed. We had thrown away a lead during the week and there was a lack of response from the players.
Ten Hag under more pressure than ever before
Today it is the manager’s responsibility. We saw his team in action after millions were spent, but the results are not improving, and there’s no positive style of play on show. He can’t use the same excuses as last season anymore.
Another poor display at home
United’s only home win, 1-0 against Fulham on the opening night, relied on a wonderful touch from Joshua Zirkzee. That means we haven’t performed strongly at home since the start of the season. When are we going to get going?
