Dwight Yorke gives verdict on why Roy Keane disliked former Manchester United team-mate

Roy Keane and Teddy Sheringham didn’t see eye-to-eye during their time at Manchester United.

Dwight Yorke has revealed that Keane, the club captain at the time, was not impressed with Sheringham when he signed for United and didn’t waste any time in letting him know about it.

Keane has never been one to pull punches – as a footballer and a pundit.

Sheringham had a long-running feud with Yorke’s striker partner Andy Cole after the duo fell out while on England duty. He pushed Keane’s buttons after arriving to United’s training ground in a red Ferrari.

“Keano didn’t particularly like him too much, do that didn’t help,” Yorke told beIN Sports.

“It took me two years into my reign at United to realise that was happening because I was having such a good time.

“I was like the mediator in all of this. The happy-go-lucky guy in the dressing room.

“He didn’t like him turning up in the Ferrari, from what I gather. There might have been more to it, but that had a part to play in it.

“You had to be a baller to turn up in a proper car back in the day.”

Team-mates don’t always need to like one another. They can still go out and perform on the pitch if their heart is in the right place. Keane is a prime example of that.
