Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake have arrived together at Manchester United’s Carrington training complex for the first day of pre-season training.

United have recruited the duo as coaches to assist Erik ten Hag ahead of his third season in charge at Old Trafford.

The pair were pictured arriving at Carrington this morning, while the Manchester Evening News claims new goalkeeper coach Jelle ten Rouwelaar has also reported for his first day.

Former United goalscorer Van Nistelrooy rejoins the club 18 years after leaving for Real Madrid.

On the other hand, Hake joins from Go Ahead Eagles, after guiding Ten Hag’s former club to ninth in the Eredivisie last season. He previously worked with the United manager at youth level at Twente.

Benni McCarthy, who worked as a coach with United’s forward players, has left the club. He was popular with several members of the squad.
