Lazio join race for Mason Greenwood after contacting intermediaries

Lazio have reportedly joined the race for Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood, which also includes the likes of Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

The 22-year-old has been plying his trade with Getafe for the last season after it was mutually decided he should continue his career away from Old Trafford.

Getafe took the gamble and it worked in their favour as he scored 10 goals and six assists, however, he’s unlikely to return because United are expecting offers from bigger clubs.

It is understood that Greenwood is attracting plenty of interest, with his days at United well and truly numbered.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Lazio have now entered the fray for the attacker who is set to leave Old Trafford.

Lazio could see Greenwood as a potential replacement for the departing Felipe Anderson, as he primarily plays on the right flank.

Pedulla claims Lazio have already contacted intermediaries in the last few hours to find out more information about Greenwood’s future.

Lazio were linked with a loan move for Greenwood last summer, but failed to get the deal across the line. We’ll know pretty soon how serious they are about signing him this summer.

Dortmund consider Greenwood pursuit

Borussia Dortmund have refused to rule out a move for Greenwood and will make a call after Saturday’s Champions League final against Real Madrid.

Reports in Germany have suggested that Dortmund are prepared to take Greenwood on loan.

“I don’t want to talk about any rumours now at the moment because it makes no sense,” Kehl said.

“Let’s play that final on Saturday.

“Of course we do have our plans for the next season and of course we discuss many scenarios, but nothing for today. Let’s focus, let’s anticipate that match on Saturday and then we’ll see how we move on.”
