Manchester United predicted XI vs Liverpool: Mount & Rashford start

Stretty News’ predicted Manchester United line-up to take on fierce rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Reds face Premier League leaders Liverpool tomorrow evening after two devastating away results at Brentford and Chelsea.

In Thursday night’s 4-3 defeat at Stamford Bridge, Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans were substituted with injuries. Ten Hag’s side had other problems in midfield as Casemiro’s form continues to be a concern. The Brazilian looked laboured and needed to come off with 15 minutes left on the clock. If fit, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Casemiro start at centre-back.

The headlines focused on Marcus Rashford being benched before the game. However, despite the fact Antony roasted Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella at Stamford Bridge, we suspect Rashford will be brought back into the line-up.

While it’s time to bounce back, it would be naïve to ignore the performances of late as well as Ten Hag’s selection limitations due to injuries. Most of those injuries have hit our defence which helps explain why United are struggling to hold onto winning positions in matches.

We got into Sunday’s game with our hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League pretty much in the bin. It’s too much of an uphill climb with so few games remaining. Tottenham are nine points clear in fifth place and Aston Villa have an 11-point advantage over United in the desired fourth spot.

Everyone apart from the Liverpool fans, players and staff at Old Trafford will be hoping for a repeat of United’s thrilling 4-3 win over Jurgen Klopp’s side in the FA Cup quarter-finals. That was three weeks ago and the optimistic that brewed that day has turned into pessimism.

SN’s predicted Manchester United line-up: Onana; Dalot, Casemiro, Maguire, Wan-Bissaka; Mainoo, Mount, Fernandes; Garnacho, Hojlund, Rashford.

*If Casemiro doesn’t pass a late fitness test, Willy Kambwala will be aiming to put in a better display than he managed in the midweek collapse.
