Rare Manchester United memorabilia up for auction in April

An incredible collection of Manchester United memorabilia is going under the hammer at an auction house in Norfolk.

The collection was owned by a friend of Sir Matt Busby and it includes match programmes, tickets, ephemera and trophies.

James and Sons Auctioneers of Fakenham are selling the ideas as part of a larger auction of sporting memorabilia.

Head auctioneer, David James, says there has been a dramatic price increase for such collectives over the years.

“Many programmes sell for £100 to £500 or more. Our record price if £6,000 for one early programme,” James said, as quoted by Eastern Daily Express.

“It seems these things are making an astronomical amount of money at the moment.

“There is lots of Man Utd ephemera and correspondence from Matt Busby. You’ll never see it again on sale.”

One time of interest to many is David Beckham’s inaugural contract with United, signed when he was 15-years-old in 1991.

The auction will take place on April 9 at 10am on the online platforms The Saleroom and Easy Live.
