Manchester United face competition from rivals for Jarrad Branthwaite transfer

It has been long suggested that Manchester United have made Everton’s highly rated Jarrad Branthwaite their primary target in defence this summer. Fresh reports suggest we will face competition from our rivals Man City for the 21-year-old’s signature.

Branthwaite has performed incredibly throughout his breakthrough season at Goodison Park, although it is worth noting that he benefited massively from spending last term on loan at PSV Eindhoven under Ruud van Nistelrooy’s guidance.

His performances have attracted attention from several top clubs and United have been heavily linked for months.

A new report from the Daily Mail claims City are monitoring the development of Branthwaite, which means we could have a transfer battle on our hands this summer. That is why Ineos Sports group are pushing for the manager and team to achieve Champions League qualification. Not solely for Branthwaite but for other transfer targets too.

Tottenham and Real Madrid have also been linked with a summer move for Branthwaite.

Manchester United need to find a new partner for Lisandro Martinez

This may sound ironic since we’ve been without Martinez all season, but fingers crossed he can stay away from any lengthly spells in the treatment room next season.

It goes without saying that the Argentina international is by far the best defender at the club.

This summer we could be saying goodbye to players like Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans. They will need to be replaced regardless of whether you think they are of the required standard or not.

Let us know in the comments section if Branthwaite be become the man to form a defensive duo with Martinez in the heart of United’s defence.
