Manchester United eye €10m Dinamo Zagreb forward Bruno Petkovic

Manchester United are reportedly interested in Dinamo Zagreb forward Bruno Petkovic.

That is according to Index HR as Croatian journalist Stjepan Mati suggests Manchester United have been keeping an eye on Petkovic in recent games but an official approach has yet to be made.

It would be too early for an official approach anyway. United will be spending the coming weeks assessing their options ahead of the summer transfer window and we fully expect to see a new forward signed to help take some of the reliance off Rasmus Hojlund’s shoulders.

Petkovic is not a spring chicken by any means. The fact he is 29 has not stopped him from bagging 16 goals across all competitions this season, but the biggest pull factor behind signing this player could be the low transfer fee likely to be demanded by his present club.

The report suggests Dinamo Zagreb are hoping to get between €15-20 million for Petkovic’s signature, but there will only be one year left on his current deal so it may be possible to get him at a cheaper price. It is certainly one to keep an eye on, especially if he continues to add to his season tally for goal contributions.

This could make the 6ft 4in striker an ideal short-term solution to help take the workload off Hojlund next season. It could be argued that by not signing a top striker in the coming months, United are respecting the Denmark international’s development but I think we should be trying to add not just depth but quality to each department.

The Croatia international will be keen to impress at Euro 2024 this summer.
