Rasmus Hojlund ‘had no intention of upsetting’ Manchester United teammates with controversial media decision

Rasmus Hojlund is believed to have caused somewhat of a stir in the Manchester United dressing room after holding an exclusive interview with one fan channel.

The 21-year-old is still navigating life in the spotlight of Europe’s top league, as well as the widespread attention that comes with being United’s starting striker.

After being made to wait 15 matches before opening his Premier League account, Hojlund then opened the floodgates by scoring seven goals in six straight matches, making history in the process by becoming the youngest-ever player to do so.

He was then hit with a muscle injury in February, which forcibly halted his prolific run of form, though there are hopes that he could return in time for this Sunday’s crucial FA Cup quarter-final clash at home to Liverpool.

Off the pitch, Hojlund quickly became a fan-favourite among the Old Trafford faithful. He’s a self-proclaimed boyhood Red who’s living out his dream while connecting well with supporters through his outgoing, likeable persona.

Fans and players puzzled over Hojlund’s off-pitch decision

Some portions of the fanbase were, however, left disappointed when he collaborated with The United Stand last month, with United We Stand fanzine claiming that several members of the squad criticised their teammate’s decision.

Marcus Rashford hit out at the channel last year in response to negative speculation, requesting that they ‘please STOP spreading malicious rumours’.

Daily Mail’s United Confidential column has since assured that there are no hard feelings between any players, adding: “Confidential understands the issue has been the source of jokes in the dressing-room rather than causing any serious tension.

“Hojlund is said to understand why some of his teammates were unhappy and had no intention of upsetting them.”
