INEOS view Manchester United duo as crucial part of long-term project

It has been a challenging season for Manchester United on the pitch, but two academy graduates have stood up to the plate and are giving fans every reason to be confident about what the future has in store.

They need no introduction. Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo are among the first names on Eri ten Hag’s team-sheet.

Garnacho, 19, has forced Antony out of the team and he was rewarded two penalties on Saturday against Everton in United’s 2-0 victory.

It wasn’t the best performances we’ve seen from the Reds this season, but as each week passes INEOS gain a better understanding of who will remain at the club and who will be axed.

Unsurprisingly, the two players that have are impressing Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS Sports group most are Garnacho and Mainoo.

In his latest Daily Briefing column for Caught Offside, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano claims INEOS are excited about what Garnacho and Mainoo can bring to the club in the future.

“Man United feel like they have a fantastic player on their hands – both for now and for the future,” Romano wrote.

“They believe Garnacho still has lots of room for improvement and that his potential is huge.

“Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS view players like Garnacho, and also Kobbie Mainoo, as crucial parts of the club’s long-term project.”

The only problem I see with Garnacho is keeping Real Madrid away. A for Mainoo, a Stockport lad, there’s every reason to believe he has a long-term future at Old Trafford.
