Man United hold internal talks to appoint 41-year-old manager as Ten Hag’s replacement

Thiago Motta, the 41-year-old manager of Bologna, is reportedly being considered by Manchester United to succeed Erik ten Hag.

Man United are interested in Thiago Motta, according to a TEAMtalk report.

In light of Erik ten Hag’s uncertain future, the Red Devils are looking for a manager. The 41-year-old Bologna manager has been named as a possible successor.

Thiago Motta is one of the most well-regarded young coaches in the world. As a bright and clever midfielder during his playing days, he was born and raised in Brazil but finished his professional career in Europe.

The native of Sao Bernardo do Camp played for Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and Genoa.

In 2018, the former Italian international hung up his boots and took command of PSG’s under-19 team, his first management role. However, the 41-year-old has only managed Genoa, Spezia and Bologna while coaching Italian teams. Motta’s value has also increased dramatically since he has been with Italian club.

The Red Devils are considering replacing Erik ten Hag as manager, and among the candidates are Roberto De Zerbi, Graham Potter, Simone Inzaghi and Zinedine Zidane.

Man United are going through a difficult 2023–24 season, and it appears that they will not be able to qualify for the Champions League the following season and finish in the top four of the Premier League. Their only opportunity to win a big prize is still the FA Cup.

Following Xavi’s departure from the Nou Camp at the end of the 2023–2024 season, Motta’s former employers Barcelona are keeping an eye on the young tactician and have shown interest in him in addition to United.

  2. Manchester United will only keep selecting managers foe next 2 decades because they can’t see problem is in players and they are not suited for Ten Hag . Ten Hag’s Ajax players never complaint about their training but ManUtd players are leaking their frustration with hard training. Ineos should change the recruitment facility and the scouts . They should invest on players and let Ten Hag run down his contract on end of next season, give him better players for the season. If he fails change manager.

    1. Half of the people in the team were either promoted by Ten Hag or bought by him. All the players out injured bar Shaw were bought by him. 2 seasons in and there is still no definite direction, no pattern, no guile, no confidence, no control!! Second season running and the goal difference is in the negative. It takes time for a manager to implement his tactics and style BUT this isn’t it. Everyone is disillusioned, the manager too.
Then there is the problem I like to call nepotism!! He preference of certain players and the treatment of others. The way Ten Hag hung DDG out to dry last season, other managers would have taken DDG out of the firing line after a couple of mistakes but not Ten Hag. United brought in Dubravka played him once and never played him again. United bought Bayindir; first team goal keeper at former club and have played Onana every chance he gets, meanwhile he could have been used at any time in the FA or EFL cup! Then there is Amad, he has had first team experience with 2 different clubs, didn’t go to AFCON just to step up fitness and impress the manager, his reward? Bruno gets played in the RW, Forson gets played ahead of him, Garnacho gets played ahead of him, an out of sort Antony still gets more game time than him! Last season after Sancho’s return from wilderness, he had this purple patch and his reward? Weghorst the non-goal scoring forward was played ahead of him in the hole and Bruno has shunted in to the RW, so you cannot blame him for acting out, not that I condone his behaviour; no player is bigger than the club.
My point is, you can blame the players all you want but a chunk of the blame falls in the lap of the man at the helm, the most backed manager post SAF.
I had such high hopes for him but it has been a hopeless hope.

  3. Coach is not man United problem, our problem is players. We don’t have quality prayers “ we need a player like odegard of Arsenal in Manchester United and two wicked and deadly defenders, changing of coaches can never solve our problems.
