Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows Marcus Rashford better than most, so the former Manchester United striker and manager is in a good position to have his say on the underwhelming form we’ve been subjected to this season.

The Norwegian has admitted Rashford will have had a “wake-up call” after his recent disciplinary issue with the club played out in public.

Rashford was spotted partying in a Belfast nightclub last month before missing training the next day. He subsequently missed United’s trip to Newport County in the FA Cup fourth-round.

Erik ten Hag dealt with the matter internally and did not want to big deal out of it in the media.

However, Rashford’s form has not picked up since then and the criticism has gone up a notch or two, hence why he hit during a recent interview with The Players’ Tribune.

Speaking to FourFourTwo, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News, Solskjaer has had his say on Rashford form: “Obviously I managed Marcus for three years and I know him. It’s not my job to go out and discuss his performances, but last season he was fantastic and it’s about consistency in football. Marcus and many others haven’t hit the heights this season. I’m sure he had a wake-up call recently and hopefully, that will spur him on.”

Rashford scored a beautiful goal to open the scoring in the Manchester derby on Sunday, but sadly United were unable to go on and secure three points after a high-flying City side.
