Real Madrid considering shock transfer for ageing Manchester United duo

Manchester United are preparing to allow both Casemiro and Raphael Varane leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Neither of these experienced players are having a good season, age isn’t on their side and United are reportedly preparing for a squad overhaul in the summer.

A report from Spanish website Fichajes claims Real Madrid are ‘closely monitoring the situation’ as they weigh up a potential move to bring them both back to the Bernabeu.

Varane joined United from Real Madrid in 2021 and has struggled at times with his fitness. This season his performances have dipped and there was speculation over a move away from Old Trafford in January. At 30-years-old, it would be a good time to move him on in the summer.

Casemiro, 32, has had his injury problems too. After an influential first campaign at United, the Brazilian has been in poor form this term or unavailable.

The problem United have is they paid lots of money for these players, despite the fact their best years as footballers were behind them.

Let us know in the comments section if you think now is the right time to get rid of Casemiro and Varane.
