Man United target move for two of Bayer Leverkusen’s most important players

Ahead of this summer’s transfer season, Manchester United are reportedly still “monitoring” two notable players from Bayer Leverkusen.

As soon as his takeover becomes official, Man Utd’s new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe will assume leadership of football operations at Old Trafford.

Although Man Utd are already undergoing significant upheaval, Ratcliffe has set recruiting model revamp as one of his top targets before the summer.

Leverkusen, who lead Bayern Munich by five points in the Bundesliga, are having an incredible season under head coach Xabi Alonso.

Among their best players are Jeremie Frimpong and Edmond Tapsoba, who have been strongly associated with Man United in the past several windows.

The Red Devils are continuing to monitor Bayer Leverkusen defenders Frimpong and Tapsoba, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is likely to be sold in the summer, would be replaced by Frimpong.

Last year, United had talks with the Frimpong’s delegation. The 23-year-old was first mentioned as a target for the summer transfer window of 2023, but United decided to postpone a right-back signing after Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s midseason revival and Diogo Dalot’s contract renewal.

It is proposed that Tapsoba take Victor Lindelof’s position, since the latter may be sold after having his contract extended in order to maintain his resale value.

With Lindelof and Raphael Varane both out of contract in June, a move for Tapsoba makes complete sense.

Leverkusen have Tapsoba under contract until 2028, and United are looking to add a youthful, athletic centre half before the next season begins.
