Vinicius Junior expresses desire to stay at Real Madrid despite transfer links

Vinicius Junior has publicly stated that he is “happy” at Real Madrid and is hopeful that the club permits his wish to remain at the Bernabeu for the coming years.

The Brazil international was back in the Real Madrid side for Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash with Girona, after missing out on last weekend’s derby against Atletico Madrid due to a neck problem.

The tricky winger returned with a bang to score and register two assists in a 4-0 win, which moves Los Blancos six points clear at the summit of the Spanish top-flight.

Vinicius Junior being pushed out of Real Madrid?

The 23-year-old signed a new deal with Real Madrid last October, but there has been constant speculation over whether the Spanish giants will opt to cash in to secure a deal for Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.

We can tell early on that there will be a long dragged out saga surrounding the French forward this summer, but he is likely to decide to join Real Madrid at the end of the season and that will set alarm bells off for Vinicius Junior.

A month ago it was claimed that Manchester United are monitoring Vinicius Junior’s situation at the Bernabeu, although there will be a number of clubs chasing his signature if he leaves Spain in the summer.

It goes without saying that he would be an incredible signing for United, but it is not a priority right now when we have other areas of the team to improve and, from what we hear, Vinicius, like many football fans, is just as interested in playing computer games as he is playing football.

Major gaming providers such as NetEnt and Microgaming have recognised the importance of the football fanbase, and have responded to the demand from sports enthusiasts, providing soccer-themed games. As a result, football and other sports have become common themes among new releases aiming to appeal to a larger audience. That should keep Vinicius happy!

Brazil star has heart set on Real Madrid stay

Erik ten Hag has made a point out of only signing players that want to be at United. We need to keep driving that message as we go into the summer transfer window, even if Vinicius Junior changes his tune at any stage.

Right now, though, he is set on staying put and doesn’t want to entertain any transfer talk.

Speaking to reporters following Madrid’s 4-0 win over Girona, Vinicius Junior said: “I am always happy to play here, to wear this shirt. I hope the president keeps me here for a long time.

“One of the best [performances of the season], for sure. We did everything the coach asked us to do. Pressing when we had to and lowering the line when we had to. That’s the difference: when the team wants to, it’s very difficult to beat us.

“They’ve been doing very well, playing spectacularly… and we knew we had to start concentrated. That’s how we did it. Playing at home is always special and when the fans are with us, it’s hard for the others.”
