Wolves manager Gary O’Neill has criticised the decision that has seen their Premier League meeting with Manchester United scheduled on the same evening as the transfer deadline.

Ahead of tonight’s 8.15pm kick-off at Molineux, O’Neill hit out at the decision during his pre-match press conference.

O’Neill said (via Manchester Evening News): “I don’t like the transfer window closing on a match day, it’s a bad idea. I need to be 100 per cent focused on the game, but there may be stuff going on that need my input. From a management point of view, it’s not ideal having to deal with the last day of a transfer window and a game on the same day. But if I have to make a choice, my 100 per cent focus will be on the game.”

His first game in charge of Wolves ended in a 1-0 loss at Old Trafford earlier this season. They have come a long way since then and currently sit 11th in the Premier League on 29 points.

United go into the game with a decent record against Wolves after winning six of their previous seven league matches versus Wolves. However, just 11 goals have been scored in the past 10 meetings in all competitions.
