Rasmus Hojlund strike wins Manchester United Goal of the Month award for January

Rasmus Hojlund’s strike against Tottenham has been voted as Manchester United’s Goal of the Month for January.

United scored 10 goals in January, but it was Hojlund’s strike that came out on top of the official poll from ManUtd.com, which is voted on by supporters.

After brushing aside competition from Diogo Dalot and Kobbie Mainoo, the Denmark international claimed top spot with 47% of the vote.

Dalot’s opener against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup third-round ranked second, while Mainoo’s first second goal for the club came third.

The 20-year-old beat Tottenham defender Pedro Porro with a turn before smashing the ball past keeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Sadly for United, we gave away the lead twice against Spurs, in a game that ended 2-2.

It felt like a missed opportunity to gain momentum in the Premier League as United failed to beat another team they are competing with for a place in the top four.

Hojlund will hope to add more goals to his season tally (8) in February and United are back in action tonight when the Reds travel to Wolves.

Hojlund needs more service

Anyone that has watched United this season can surely see that Hojlund often has to create opportunities for himself. The wingers are inclined to goal for goal themselves, conscious of their own season tallies, but it is proving counter-productive to our new centre-forward.

I sometimes wonder ‘what if’ we signed Harry Kane in the summer. He’d find it difficult to score goals whilst feeding on scraps.
