‘I will deal with it’: Ten Hag keeps tight-lipped over Rashford clubbing fiasco as player faces disciplinary action

Erik ten Hag grew impatient with reporters’ relentless questioning over Marcus Rashford’s absence from the Manchester United squad on Sunday.

The forward was omitted from the teamsheet altogether for yesterday’s win over Newport County with what the club claimed to be illness; United announced that he had stayed at Carrington to train while the side travelled to Wales for the FA Cup clash.

It came after Rashford had been pictured clubbing in Belfast on Thursday night and had subsequently reported ill for Friday morning’s training session. The club were reportedly aware that the 26-year-old had gone out on Wednesday evening, however, The Athletic has since confirmed that he did again the following night.

Rashford, who has four goals to his name in 26 appearances this season, is yet to comment on the matter and may face disciplinary action for his midweek affairs given that it directly interfered with his game involvement.

Ten Hag kept tight-lipped when quizzed on the issue post-match though, frequently repeating to the press: “It’s an internal matter, I will deal with it.”
