Barcelona set to land rising Swedish star targeted by Manchester United

Barcelona are pushing ahead in the race to sign Swedish wonderkid Lucas Bergvall amid links to Manchester United.

The 17-year-old, who currently plays for Djurgarden in the Allsvenskan, was named as a target for United by German outlet Fussball News earlier this month.

We have been keeping track of reports concerning Bergvall as a result and now it seems like Barcelona want to make advances on a potential transfer before anyone else.

Transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano claims Barca will have a €7m bid plus €3m in add-ons accepted by Djurgarden next week. The Italian journalist adds that Bergvall has made it clear that he wants to join the La Liga giants.

This means United can move on from chasing Bergvall, but it will be up to our scouting department to identify alternative targets.

Bergvall has been linked with Barca for some time, after impressing with 28 appearances for Djurgardens last year, during which he scored three goals.

The young midfielder also made his first appearance for the Sweden national team at the age of 17-years, 11 months and 10 days.

Maybe he wants to join a club like Barcelona as a stepping stone to United? Only time will tell.
