Al Nassr readying bid for 26-year-old Manchester United star whose contract extension has just been triggered

Al Nassr are lining up a bid for Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka before the transfer window closes on February 1, as per The Telegraph.

At the beginning of January, the 26-year-old was among several United players who had their one-year contract extensions triggered, giving the club full control in their resale options over him leaving for nothing in June.

Wan-Bissaka has featured in 17 matches this season – 13 of which have come as a starter. A hamstring injury saw him sidelined for around nine matches earlier in the term and he is now frequently rotated with counterpart Diogo Dalot on the right side of defence; the Portugal star was awarded a new five-year deal in May 2023 with the option for a further year, which may allude to Erik ten Hag’s preferred option in their position.

Mike McGrath’s report states that the Saudi Pro League outfit are keen on bolstering their squad for the second half of the campaign and after initially pursuing Tottenham Hotspur’s Emerson Royal, their attention has now turned to the United man. Any potential move would see Wan-Bissaka reunite with former teammates Cristiano Ronaldo and Alex Telles.

However, the debilitating injury crisis that has plagued Old Trafford this year has likely left Ten Hag reluctant to sanction any mid-season departures – especially in the backline.
