Andre Onana subject to more criticism after AFCON howler vs Senegal

Andre Onana was subject to more criticism after Cameroon’s 3-1 defeat against Senegal in the AFCON group stages.

Cameroon now run the risk of elimination after picking up just one point from their opening two matches.

The Manchester United goalkeeper has had a rocky start to life at Old Trafford and isn’t enjoying one of his best seasons, but he mis-timed a punch and was rooted to the spot when Ismalia Sarr scored Senegal’s opening goal on Friday evening.

Onana was also criticised by man for Sadio Mane’s goal which made it 3-1 in stoppage time. After watching the highlights, I can’t get my head around how slow he is to get to the ground and we’ve seen it happen in a United shirt this season.

With United seventh in the Premier League, it doesn’t bode well that we’ve let in 29 goals in 21 matches. That is a shocking record but our injury crisis in defence has made it impossible for Erik ten Hag to settle on a back four. And it goes without saying that it’s a recipe for disaster throwing a new keeper into the mix with an unsettled defence.

  1. Please, ETH should use the other goalkeepers too. Onana should be left alone for now. He is not having the best season of his life. Brother should stop being a GK too. He fits a midfielder throwing those passes. I can’t really wrap my head around seeing him in the goal again when ManUtd is having a match. I’m tired of standing on my toes whenever a shot is fired at him cause his performance hasn’t been a pro goalie’s own at all.
