Manchester United legend Roy Keane played with some of the best players in the world during his successful time at Old Trafford.
Under Sir Alex Ferguson, Keane amassed an amazing seven league titles, four FA Cups, and one Champions League medal.
The midfielder was the commanding force of the team during Sir Alex’s iconic era at the club.
During that period, Keane played alongside Wayne Rooney, Andy Cole, Eric Cantona, Teddy Sheringham, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Dwight Yorke.
However, Keane didn’t name any of them as the best finisher he has ever played with the club.
When speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, the former Premier League midfielder named Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy as the player he would prefer on his team when through one on one with a goalkeeper.
Speaking on the podcast, Keane said: “You’d want Ruud. Ruud one vs one with the goalkeeper, he’d score.”
In his 219 Manchester United games, Ruud van Nistelrooy scored 150 goals. The Dutch striker was one of the most successful signings of Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure at the club.
He joined the club from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in 2001 in a deal that cost the Red Devils £19 million.
He was not only a success in England but also performed brilliantly during his time in the Eredivisie. Before moving to Old Trafford, he scored 77 goals in 90 appearances for PSV Eindhoven.
After leaving England, he moved to Spain to join Real Madrid where he scored 64 goals in 96 games for the Spanish giants.
It’s fair to say that he knew how to finish.
