Manchester United learn Real Madrid demands for Vinicius Jr deal

Manchester United have been linked with a shock move for Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior.

A report from ESPN Brasil says Vinicius Jr has a €1 billion (£850m) release clause in his contract having recently signed a new five-year deal until 2027.

This is one of the many reasons that links to United – and talk of a £150m bid – is being laughed at in football circles. It is suggested that Real Madrid will not entertain anything below a starting price of £250m for Vinicius Jr.

The report adds that United have not contacted Madrid over such a proposal because they’re not interested in selling him right now.

Vinicius Jr could be on the move in the summer if Madrid launch a pursuit for PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe when his contract expires. He has been linked with a move to Spain for years and he’s not going to work in the same team as Vinicius Jr when both players prefer the right flank.

Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker laughed off reports of United bidding for Vinicius Jr on Twitter this afternoon.
