Manchester United out of FA Youth Cup after defeat to Swindon Town

Manchester United U18s were eliminated from the FA Youth Cup at the hands of Swindon Town following a 2-0 defeat on Tuesday night.

Botan Ameen was on target to score a first-half brace for the Robins at the County Ground to dump United out of the competition.

United pushed hard to find a way back into the match, but Swindon defended like their lives depended on it to book their place in the next stage of the history competition.

As a result, Swindon will face Gillingham or Sunderland in the fifth-round next Tuesday.

It’s a shame that our FA Youth Cup run has come to a premature end because it’s a competition we’ve won more than any other club. One that is seen as a milestone achievement for academy players.

Adam Lawrence and his team would have hoped for a run in the FA Youth Cup season, but the best way to look at it now is a lesson for the future.

The young Reds are in action again on Saturday when they take on Man City in the Premier League North.
