Manchester United eye player exchange deal for Michael Olise this summer

Manchester United have identified Crystal Palace star Michael Olise as an option to spice up their attack in the summer, but some members of the recruitment team have their doubts about the winger.

According to ESPN, the deal being discussed could see right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka return to Selhurst Park.

The right-back could be on the move at the end of the season and it doesn’t sound like United are making their interest in Olise a secret.

United triggered a 12-month contract extension on Wan-Bissaka’s deal last month to ensure the player can’t leave as a free agent, which means they need to plan something before he can. That could mean offering him a new deal or moving him on elsewhere.

Olise, 22, signed a four year deal at Palace last August after speculation over a move to Chelsea.

The report states: “Sources have said that United’s interest in Olise is not universally supported within Old Trafford, with some members [of] the recruitment team expressing reservations following the failure of Wan-Bissaka and Wilfried Zaha to successfully make the transition from Palace to the more demanding environment of life at United.”

But are those members of United only looking to blame anyone but themselves? Zaha turned out to become a great player, so I would rather ask if more could have been done to put him on a better path while at the club?

When it comes to Wan-Bissaka, I might ask who was responsible for scouting him when we needed a right-back back in 2019. It’s 2023 and nothing has changed.

The France U21 international is still a strong target for Chelsea and is expected to be allowed to leave this summer as part of rebuilding plans at the club. United need a rebuild of their own with INEOS investment and only time will tell how much they’re willing to spend in the summer transfer window.

ESPN also state that Liverpool are starting to sniff around the player, so that only means more competition for United.

Olise has previously spent time at Man City as an academy player and could be the next winger to face the pressures of representing United.

  1. Forget about summer plans and this window until we get a proper DOF in place other than the final Chuckle Brother Murtough or we;’ll end up with another Antony Mount and others unfit for purpose or good young players are sold for a pittance and we still haven’t learned that lesson with the low fee for Hannibal and have sell on or buy back clauses on them like sensible clubs have on players they sell
