Fabrizio Romano details INEOS’ specific request in United midfielder’s loan move to La Liga outfit

Hannibal Mejbri is joining Sevilla on loan from Manchester United for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign.

A deal between the two clubs was reached yesterday, as confirmed by both David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano.

The midfielder has already travelled to Spain and will undergo his medical today (Monday) before completing his temporary transfer. A €20 million (including add-ons) option to buy has been included in the terms for Sevilla, and Romano reports that INEOS specifically stepped in to ensure there was a buy-back clause, giving United some control over the Carrington graduate’s future.

Sevilla to sign Hannibal

Hannibal, 20, had opted against representing Tunisia at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations this month as he looked to secure increased game time elsewhere. This season, he has featured for a total of 327 minutes across 10 appearances and netted his maiden United goal back in September.

Depth in Erik ten Hag’s midfield means there is little chance of the youngster cementing a starting role anytime soon, so a loan will undoubtedly benefit both parties from now until the summer.
