Erik ten Hag recalls penalty decision that went Tottenham’s way against Reds

Manchester United starlet Alejandro Garnacho appealed for a penalty in the first half of Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

The Reds twice took the lead against Spurs after goals from Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford. Sadly, we couldn’t stop Richarlison and Rodrigo Bentancur from ensuring the visitors took a point back to London.

Garnacho had a tough afternoon at the office against Destiny Udogie, but still managed to cause a threat whenever United got the ball out wide.

Udogie took Garnacho down in the box, but his appeals were waved away.

Referee John Brooks ignored the Argentine’s protests and sense of bemusement from the stands. This felt like yet another decision to go against United and it was, at least in the eyes of manager Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman was asked if he was surprised VAR had not halted the game against Spurs.

“Yes,” Ten Hag said, as per the Manchester Evening News. “What can you do for it?

“But I’m used to this all season, this is the case. In Spurs was similar, a clear handball from Romero and I can list a number more. I think at some point in the season, it will turn to our side, let’s hope so.”

Ten Hag had a nice way of explaining to the media that United have had countless decisions go against them this season, and something needs to change on that front quickly. I think it’s about time he said it.

  1. Yes absolutely a penalty. You doing wrap your two hands against an opponent in your eighteen yard box trying to pull him back in other for him not to reach out to the ball in front of him.
