Manchester United linked with a stunning swoop for Karim Benzema

Karim Benzema, former Real Madrid striker and current player of Al Ittihad, has been linked to Manchester United in a spectacular loan deal.

The French striker has been reportedly unsettled at the Saudi Pro League club and he could consider a move back to Europe.

This is according to a report in Fichajes, that has claimed the Red Devils want to bring Benzema to Old Trafford, with his former teams Lyon and Real Madrid also said to be interested in signing him back.

Due to Marcus Rashford’s failure to return to the form that saw him score thirty goals in the previous season, the Red Devils have one of the weakest attacking records in the league by statistical standards.

New signing Rasmus Hojlund has failed to make a huge impact since his big money move in the summer, having scored just one goal in 15 Premier League appearances.

Erik ten Hag needs an experienced player in his attack and the former Ballon d’Or winner could be the perfect player to fill that role. Having played football for more than a decade at the top level, Benzema has enjoyed scoring as well as creating goals for his teammates.

United need to add a striker in the transfer window this month and they have been linked with a number of attackers.

Timo Werner was linked with a move to Old Trafford before signing for Tottenham and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting of Bayern Munich still continues to be named in United’s possible signings for this month.

Fichajes have reported that because Benzema has not shown up for the start of his current club’s season following the break. Therefore, “by order of coach Marcelo Gallardo, he will not take part in the ‘ministage’ that the squad will carry out in Dubai”.
