Manchester United return to Premier League action for the first time in the New Year against Tottenham.

We go into the game on the back of a comfortable FA Cup win over Wigan Athletic and there’s hope that our results will pick up in 2024 – starting with Tottenham on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag has claimed United will get better this month when those who are injured return to full fitness. In his pre-match press conference he confirmed as many as six of his players could be back to play a part against Sours.

With that in mind, here’s our predicted XI to face Ange Postecoglou:

Andre Onana will play his final game before heading off to the AFCON.

Diogo Dalot will get the nod at right-back and we could see Luke Shaw return to his favoured role at left-back. Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans will start at centre-back.

In midfield, Kobbie Mainoo deserves the keep his place as the game comes too soon for Casemiro. Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes will be tasked with pulling the strings in the final third – and Spurs will leave gaps open for us to exploit.

Alejandro Garnacho will start from the right, Rasmus Hojlund will lead the line and we’ll hope for better output from Marcus Rashford on the left flank.

Manchester United XI vs Tottenham: Onana; Dalot, Varane, Evans, Shaw; Mainoo, Eriksen, Bruno, Garnacho, Hojlund, Rashford.
