Journalist David Ornstein has responded to rumours linking Jonathan David to Man United

Transfer expert and journalist David Ornstein has shared important update about rumours linking Lille striker Jonathan David to a move to Manchester United.

The Red Devils have been linked with a number of players in the January transfer window. Erik ten Hag is currently looking for a striker to help solve his team’s goal scoring issues.

A number of strikers have been linked with a move to Old Trafford this month. Bayern Munich star Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Timo Werner, before his eventual move to Tottenham and Lille striker Jonathan David have all been linked with a move to United.

However, The Athletic’s David Ornstein has confirmed that it is unlikely that United would be able to sign David this month.

According to a report from Football Transfers, United are interested in signing David from Lille but Ornstein has denied any such claim.

In The Athletic, Ornstein responded to the question of whether United or Aston Villa are really interested in the prolific striker.

“It’s not one I’ve heard credibly, Anthony. That’s not to say he isn’t a player clubs like these are considering.

“But in the case of United, the money it would require to make such a signing is not available this month, unless they can generate the required funds through departures.

“As for Villa, the expectation until now has been a quiet window that perhaps sees them make a loan signing (not something you would imagine Lille allowing for David).”

In 14 Ligue 1 starts for Lille this season, the 23-year-old Canadian striker has five goals and one assist.
