Manchester United youngster commits future to Old Trafford till 2026

Manchester United academy graduate Joe Hugill has been handed a new contract by the club after his impressive performances.

The Old Trafford leadership has taken notice of the English striker due to his excellent performances for the U-21 team.

Hugill has eight goals and one assist in his 12 appearances for the Manchester United U-21 squad. Despite being on the bench four times this season, he has not yet made an appearance for the senior squad. It is only a matter of time before he is given a proper chance by manager Erik ten Hag.

Such stellar performances cannot go unnoticed and the fact that Man United have extended his contract at the club shows how much they believe in his ability and talent. Hugill also made it to the bench for Man United’s FA Cup clash against Wigan last week.

The Red Devils have the option to add a year to his new contract, which is set to expire in 2026.

United want his development to continue and he is set to leave the club in a loan move this month.

Simon Peach (h\t Metro) has reported that Hugill is set to join Burton Albion on loan. United have made a wise choice by sending the youth talent away to gain some experience.

United need experience upfront as they are already playing an inexperienced striker in Rasmus Hojlund. The club cannot risk playing another young and upcoming striker in a position that needs serious addressing.

The club is currently looking for options in the market and Bayern Munich star Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
