Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo has responded to reports linking him with a move to Man United

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has admitted that he is aware of Manchester United’s interest in him and he knows about the rumours linking him to a move to Old Trafford.

However, Araujo has confirmed that he is 100% committed to Barcelona and he is not thinking about leaving the club.

Along with Man United, Bayern Munich are also interested in signing the highly-rated defender.

Araujo was one of Barcelona’s best performers last season as Xavi’s men defeated Real Madrid to the La Liga title. The Uruguayan defender has proved his talent and versatility a number of times, with the centre-back occasionally slotting in at right-back to help his team.

Xavi considers Araujo as one of the leaders of the team. Reports have linked with a move away from Camp Nou as the Catalans are going through difficulties financially, but a move in the January transfer window seems impossible.

Despite the outside commotion, Araujo has downplayed talks of leaving Catalonia, assuring the media that he is just focused on his career at Barcelona.

“In every transfer window there are rumours of all kinds. It’s normal,” Araujo said.

“The only thing I can say is that I’m focused on the team and also on this club. I’m comfortable here and I always try to give everything for this shirt.

“There are always rumours that appear in all markets. There was talk in the summer about Manchester United, but I am focused on Barca. And I will always give 100%.”

Barcelona signed the defender in 2018 for a fee of just €3.5m but his stocks are so high now that a fee in excess of €80m would be needed to sign him.
