Fenerbahce make £6.8m offer to sign Manchester United forward

Anthony Martial’s future at Manchester United is increasingly unclear, with the forward out of contract at the end of this season.

Martial has six months remaining on the contract he signed in 2019 but the club has an option to extend his deal for an additional season.

Earlier this week, the club announced that similar clauses had been activated in the contracts of three other players, with Hannibal Mejbri, Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all having their terms extended by one year.

Martial’s deal has not yet been extended, which could be a hint on where United stand on the Frenchman’s future at Old Trafford.

Now, there are supposed developments. According to Turkish outlet Takvim, via the Daily Mail, Super Lig giants Fenerbahce have made a £6.8m offer to sign the forward.

As per the report, Fenerbahce are hopeful of striking a deal with United and their relationship with the club is cited as a building block towards a smooth deal.

Any deal to bring Martial to Turkey would have to be completed this month if United want to cash in on the former Monaco star.

As things stand, it does not look like United will extend Martial’s contract beyond this year and you can’t say it’s an unexpected ending.

Martial has been out of favour for the best part of three years now and his injury record means he is rarely someone you can rely on.

Rasmus Hojlund is the clear first-choice option in his position and it could be argued that Marcus Rashford is also preferred to Martial through the middle.
